On Wednesday, 29th October 2025, the Deputy Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Madam Penny Dennis, paid a working visit to Sunyani Technical University (STU) as part of her short official tour of Sunyani and Techire. She was accompanied by Madam Sennami, the Policy Officer at the Australian High Commission. The visit, facilitated by Mr. Ransford Antwi, a long-time friend of both the University and the High Commission, aimed at exploring potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions.
The Vice-Chancellor of STU, Professor Ing. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, warmly received Madam Dennis and her team in the company of management members of the University. The engagement was described as highly cordial and productive, focusing on mutual areas of academic and developmental interest.
Discussions centered on possible scholarship opportunities for faculty members, particularly in the areas of engineering, sustainability, agriculture, and food security technologies. Other key topics included exchange programs for students, capacity-building initiatives, and research collaborations that align with Ghana’s and Australia’s shared commitment to advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Professor Ing. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah emphasized STU’s growing role as a center of practical and technical innovation in Ghana and called for stronger ties between the University and the Australian High Commission to enhance academic excellence and international cooperation. He expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ransford Antwi for facilitating the engagement and fostering a relationship that promises to yield long-term benefits for both institutions.
In her remarks, Madam Dennis commended STU’s efforts in promoting technical and vocational education and expressed her willingness to further discussions on possible collaborative programs that would strengthen educational and research linkages between Ghana and Australia.
