Professor Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University (STU), has been commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt, with concurrent accreditation to Lebanon, Palestine, and Sudan.
This marks a major transition from university leadership into high-level diplomatic service as he will now be strengthening bilateral relations, promoting economic cooperation and fostering cultural exchanges between Ghana and these nations.
Academic and Professional Background
Prof. Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah is a Ghanaian academic and administrator, who serves as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University. He is a highly respected figure in Ghana's educational landscape, known for his leadership, integrity, and dedication to higher education.
He holds a Doctor of Technology (D-Tech) in Human Resource Management from Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Cape Coast and a degree in Administration & Political Science from the University of Ghana.
He has contributed to scholarly research in areas such as higher education branding and human resource development.
Since 2006, Prof Korantwi-Barimah has supervised and mentored countless numbers of students at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He has authored, co-authored and edited several academic works and has published extensively in reputable international peer-reviewed journals, conferences and book chapters. His areas of specialization touch many areas within the discipline of human resource management such as capacity building, reward management, training and development, and talent management.
He is a member of the Institute of Directors, Ghana, and the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners Ghana and serves on countless Business Associations and sits on Boards and Committees of some Regulatory Bodies.
He is an Associate Professor in Human Resource Management with about 20 years of experience in leading research projects, teaching, and learning and demonstrated notable achievements in several key workplace results.
Public Engagement and Leadership
Beyond academia, Prof. Korantwi-Barimah has been active in national educational discourse, frequently advocating for increased investment in secondary education. He has also spoken on civic matters, notably expressing concerns over the encroachment of public lands in Sunyani and stressing the importance of safeguarding spaces designated for institutional growth.
He additionally serves in leadership roles outside the university, including involvement with the Institute of Directors–Ghana, where he is listed as a member of a regional committee.
Prof. Korantwi-Barimah further serves as a Director/Board member of Fiagya Rural Bank PLC.
He is a passionate, goal-oriented motivational speaker and actively involved in empowering the minds of the youth through various seminars and conferences.
