On Saturday, 28th March 2026, the 1980 to 1990 alumni batch of Sunyani Technical University (STU), who attended the institution when it was known as Sunyani Technical Institute, donated a computer to the University to support teaching, learning, and administrative work.
The donation was received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor by the Registrar, Mr. Samuel Ankama Obour, who expressed profound gratitude to the alumni for their thoughtful gesture. He commended the group for its commitment to giving back to their alma mater and contributing to its development.
Mr. Obour used the occasion to encourage other alumni year groups to emulate the example set by the 1980–1990 batch by organising themselves and supporting the University in diverse ways. He emphasised that alumni associations remain one of the most powerful drivers of institutional growth and development.
He further highlighted the evolution of the institution from Sunyani Technical Institute to Sunyani Polytechnic, and now to Sunyani Technical University, and called for stronger collaboration among all alumni across these phases to build a united and impactful alumni body.
Speaking on behalf of the alumni, the group representative noted that the donation was a way of giving back to the institution that shaped their lives. He explained that members of the group, now engaged in various professional fields, came together to support the University and enhance its operations. He also expressed their commitment to continue mobilising resources and contributing to the development of the University.
The University expressed its appreciation to the alumni for their support and looked forward to sustained collaboration with all alumni groups to advance institutional growth and excellence.
