Re-Opening of School for Final Year Students

Following directives by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his 10th Address to the nation on the COVID-19 pandemic on the re-opening of educational institutions for final year students on Sunday, May 31, 2020, the Executive Committee at its meeting held on Thursday, June 4, 202 decided as follows:

  1. The re-opening date for all final year students is slated for Monday, June 15, 2020 and academic activities begins Tuesday, June 16, 2020 to Friday, July 24, 2020.
  2. The period for examinations for final year students begins from Monday, July 27, to Friday, August 21, 2020
  3. The existing arrangement for online teaching and assignment for continuing first and second year students as agreed earlier should hold.


  1. All final year students shall attend lectures at the main campus (Old Site)
  2. All arrivals on campus shall be temperature screened at the main gate. Only two gates shall be opened for entry into the University (ie. Gate 1&2)
  3. There shall be provision of Veronica Buckets at all vantage points on campus.
  4. Security Pesonnel shall be on guard with Gun Thermometers to ensure strict adherance to all safety protocols including checking of temperature and hand washing before entering into hostels and lecture halls.
  5. Each staff or student shall begiven one face mask by the University in addition to the three (3) that shall be distributed by the Ministry of Education.
  6. Students without face masks shall be denied antry into campus and lecture halls (No Face Mask, No Entry).
  7. All lecture halls and hostels shall be distinfected and fumigated before the re-opening date of Monday, June 15, 2020.
  8. All students shall be provided with hand sanitizers.
  9. Students are advised to observe social distancing, no hugging, no sporting activities, no religios activities and hand shaking.
  10. All symptoms of coronavirus should be reported to the University Clinic immediately (ie. listening to your body and report any unusual signs or feelings)
  11. Cleaners and Labourers shall be provided with Protective Gears.
  12. Security Personal, Porters and a section of the Administrative Staff shall be given training on the usage of thermometer guns.
  13. In the case of any abnormal temperature reading, the person involved shall immediately be sent to the University Clinic for further checks

All Faculty, staff and students are to comply with the above in addition to the Ministry of Health protocols on COVID-19.
